In-Game Character Information
Name: Leonard "Bones" McCoy
Series: Star Trek (2009)
Age: 18

Personality:

Initial impressions of Leonard tend to lend themselves to the picture of a man who is grumpy, bitter, and almost entirely resentful of all that surrounds him. However, while most of this is in fact true, he is also a man of compassion, loyalty, and a very, VERY reluctant sense of mother henning. This is most strongly portrayed through his friendship with Jim in canon, as while Bones appears disgruntled, and is often prone to bickering and nitpicking, he is also one of the few to bend the rules in the name of friendship, and to take more extreme measures for the sake of his friend's well being.

He is also often one of the first to offer his services in times of crisis. He is a man that is confident in his knowledge, and can keep a practical, level-headed approach to problems that would frazzle or unnerve the common man. He is cool, assessing, and analytical. It takes a lot to phase him, and it is also damn hard to pull bullshit over his head.

Often, his attitude seems to be gruff, insensitive and aloof, but in actuality, he is simply tackling issues from a more logical perspective in order to be more efficient. He can be snarky, off putting and it is almost impossible for him to utter a sentence without a sarcastic note, but underneath the exterior he projects, he often does what he feels to be right, rules or consequences be damned.

Background:

Leonard McCoy was raised by two muggle parents, his biological father and a stepmother, and from a very early age was instilled with the knowledge of non magical medicinal practices and surgical techniques from his father. He was prepared to grow up and become a doctor, but a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry threw a wrench into the traditional plans his family had in store for him. At first, Leonard was reluctant to accept the actuality of there being an institution for magic, and it took more than a handful of brochures and several professors from the school to convince him to journey to the train station.

And then there was the obstacle of the actual train station. To say Leonard wasn't a fan of that mode of transportation would be a gross understatement. He hated trains, viewing them as obstacles of death and destruction, and had flat out refused to board one of them for the duration of his eleven years of life. However, the Scarlet Express was the only way into Hogwarts, and despite his protests, Leonard was dragged aboard.

On the train, Leonard was thrown into a compartment almost immediately, seeing as he had attempted to lock himself in the restroom and an attendant had spotted him. The compartment wasn't unoccupied, and the other boy there would change his life forever. When Leonard McCoy met James T. Kirk, his future best friend, he introduced himself in a very unorthodox manner that never the less made an impression.

Leonard vomited Bertie Botts Every Flavoured Beans all over Jim's shoes.

But after the inital ranting and puking, Leonard adopted an almost protective and supportive role of Kirk, keeping him in line and out of most of the trouble he got himself into. During the years at Hogwarts, the two of them were near inseperable.

However, it was during his fourth year at school that things would get complicated for him. At the age of fourteen, Leonard met a girl who would rob him almost entirely blind. Her name was Larxene, and she had tricked Leonard into dating her with acts of charm and good-natured fun. Despite his usual bull shit proof mentality, Larxene wormed her way under his skin and into his very bones, resulting in a rather disasterous relationship that lasted almost two years. During the end of fifth year, Leonard broke it off with her, but not before Larxene had managed to procure all of his financial assets and property.

Damn near penniless, Leonard then transferred to Durmstrang, where his biological mother, a pure blooded witch, had connections that allowed him a little financial breathing room and stability, as well as some time away from that complete psycho bitch. After a year of school there, Leonard finally found the means to get back on his feet, and it was with determination and a very, very heavy sense of bitterness that he returned back to Hogwarts in his seventh year.

Blood: Half blood, raised muggle

Preferred House: Ravenclaw
Why you think they belong in this house? Because Bones is a brilliant mind, and he frequently uses it to his advantage. He has a very level head on his shoulders, often serving as the voice of reason among his more impetuous and hotheaded friends. He's a fan of doing things by the book, and has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of diseases and medical spells. Plus, he looks really good in blue. Damn it, he's a Ravenclaw, not a Hufflepuff.

School Year: 7th

Quidditch Position: LOL NO. He will offer to be a medic for the team though, albeit begrudgingly
Would you like the character to possibly get a higher position? Bones would make an excellent prefect. He has a no nonsense personality, and a clear head on his shoulders. He's very responsible, and despite his demeanor, is usually willing to help people out of binds.

Journal Sample:

Apparation exams. Ridiculous. Don't these idiot ministry members realize the dangers of transporting feet, miles away to an unseen location? I could land in a bog. Half of me could land in a bog. Magic is dangerous, full of unexpected consequences and perils that could kill a man in less than a second. Ever see what happens to something as small as a lemon drop when it's sucked into a moat? Imagine that being your brain.

I'll tell you one thing, there's no way in the nine stars those monkeys in suits are getting me to take that damn test. I'll keep my feet where I can see them, thanks.

"Stand still damn it," Bones grumbled as he shined the glowing tip of his wand into the boy's eyes, checking to make sure there were no dilated pupils or contracted irisis, "Do you want this going into your skull? I know it must be lonely, but at least try to act like you don't want your peanut brain to have company."

The boy swallowed slowly, a nervous look growing on his face as his fidgeting stilled.

"So your auditory responses are still functional," Bones said with a huff followed by a wry, barely-there amused grin as he pulled the wand back, "Say ah, but for god's sake, don't breathe too much. I can't afford to have the germs filtering in the infirmary like a silent, pestilent, strikeforce."

The boy stared at him with wide eyes, before obediently opening his mouth and repeating the said verbal prompt.

"No kneezle infestation," Bones said flatly, before pulling away.

"I only hurt my arm..." the boy said quietly.

Bones snorted, "Obviously. But what kind of healer do you think I'd be, sending you out into the school when you could quite possibly be carrying the germs for Banshee's Throat or Gnargle Influenza?"

The boy frowned, "Aren't you only a fifth-?"

"Damn it, I'm in training, not an idiot. Now let me get a blood sample-"
